As I approach my next birthday (less than a month away), I started thinking what my ultra-late thirties will bring. I passed by an older gentleman today, probably in his 70’s, on my walk and it got me thinking.
The older you get the less you care about what other people think of you. You buy things because they are what you want. You wear clothes that make you feel good. You say yes to activities that make you happy. You are no longer in the mindset of keeping up with the Joneses.
But why can’t we have this mentality now, earlier in life. We can. The thing is we have to come to this realization that we control our destiny by the thoughts in our head at any given point in our lives. It doesn’t have to be when we are older and near the end. It can be in the prime of our lives when we still have plenty of time to move the needle in one direction.
Instead of pining over things that others’ have, this is now the time exercise gratitude for everything in our lives.
What are you grateful for today?
