Finding Your Own Path Less Traveled

January 17, 2020

Have you ever noticed how when you take the same path everyday, you miss things along the way?

For the most part, my dog and I go in the same direction for her daily walk. For these walks, I make sure I’m not in auto-pilot and really am open to my surroundings. I notice birds and one sole woodpecker that captures my attention. These walks are very peaceful and deliberate.

BUT…when I pick the kids up from school, I get in my car and drive. I could probably do it with my eyes closed, if there wasn’t a chance I would hit someone.

Some days I feel as if the car is driving me instead of the other way around. I’m on a mission to get my kids, but I miss a lot of interesting things. Taking stock in noticing that even the mundane things can be alter with a little awareness can shift your whole perspective.

One thing that changes things up is going a different way, but if that’s not possible then become aware of what is around you. Soak in nature: the clouds, the birds, the trees. People watch along the way and be on the look out for signs that could be guiding you down your next journey of life.

What would you see if you took a new path today?
