How Car Rides Strengthen Relationships
January 23, 2020
Sometimes it’s good to be the chauffeur. In fact most times, I really like being the driver.
There are days when I’d rather be home, giving the driving responsibilities to my husband but for the most part I like taking my kids to their activities.
The return of investment is threefold:
- I get to read without distraction.
- I get to journal, then meditate in my car (looking like the crazy lady with her eyes closed).
- Driving my kids to their activities allows time to chat with them about their day and general goings-on’s in their life.
I get “me time” when I drive to practices, but the full fledged conversations is the best part. They rehash their evening, but also go into details about their school day.
While being the driver for four kids is not a luxury job that pays the big bucks, the ROI in relationships is more than money could ever give me.
I get to spend time with myself growing my spiritual side while watching the relationships with my children blossom.
What do you do on your car rides with your family?
