After being a stay-at-home mom for the last 11 years, I’m inching closer to having children gone during the day, all day. What this means for me, is I am getting ready to get focused on pursing my passions as a career, being able to devote more dedicated time to them.
My husband is the sole income provider for our family and I’m ready to give him a much needed break. But I have some parameters that need to be followed.
I do not want to let go of my role of sole caregiver too quickly. Meaning, I want to be home for the kids. I want to take them to activities. I want to be here for bedtime and their morning routine.
My hours must be flexible and something I enjoy doing. It is possible to find a career like this. Patience is definitely a virtue in this arena.
I’m completely ok with taking my time to find something that fits all my needs and my family. Because I know that my birthright isn’t about me living to work, but instead to have something to enhance my already amazing life.
If you are/were a stay at home mom, what did you do to get back into the work force on your terms?
