When You Let Your Excuses Get The Better Of You

October 10, 2019

No one is perfect. We let things get the best of us. It’s too hot to sit in here and write. The kids need my attention and I can’t finish this task. I’ve got so many other things to do. The list goes on and on.

What this means is whatever idea you have floating around right now in your head is clearly not a priority to you. Be honest with yourself. How important is it to you?

Not every idea you come up with is going to be a million dollar idea. Not every idea needs your undivided attention. But if it’s one of those things that you simply can’t stop thinking about and all you want to do is work on it then so be it. Let it be a necessity on your calendar.

On the other hand, be ok with ideas that truly aren’t working out. They will still be there for you when you are ready for them. Instead of forcing an idea to come to fruition, let it flow with ease.

I know when something is going to come easily to me, it will end in great results.

But when I have to force myself to power through, it’s not always the best ending.

Sure, there are sometimes when we have to do things we don’t like along the way, but that doesn’t mean that we have lost our passion for the idea. It means that there are aspects of the process that we have to honor even if it’s not our favorite part.

Are you able to tell yourself when an idea is good or bad?
