Simplicity Can Make Weekends Fun Again
September 10, 2019
How do you spend your weekends? Cleaning up after a full week of activities, work, and school? What if it didn’t have to be that way?
That would be awesome, right? When the kids were younger, I believed that my life was going to be about pick up after them, cleaning and so much of the same.
The answer was simple. Literally. To simplify.
It was about simplifying the things we had in our house. Asking myself the question, do we really need this, over and over, until we had only things we used in this point in our lives.
Simplifying was also about saying yes to things that brought us happiness. If it was something I wavered on even in the slightest then it was a no. I lessened our calendar, opened up our free time and made our house a home that didn’t fill our hearts or mind with clutter.
Mind you, we have to do a little revamp of declutter every couple months or so, but it’s fun to see what had brought us joy then and be ok with letting it go. I don’t let things pile up any longer than a week and only in certain areas in the house.
Everything has its place and it makes weekends more fun because it’s not spent cleaning up the mess we’ve made over the week.
FYI: The picture I used gives me anxiety just looking at it…
Do you tidy up on a daily basis?
