Morning Bird Or Night Owl?
August 17, 2019
Remember the days when you could sleep in till noon. You had little to no responsibilities and could lounge around all day to your heart’s content. That’s what I love about my daughter’s age right now. I was like her. I could sleep through a hurricane and would stay in bed all morning. My boys on the other hand are early risers and still like to get up before 8, even on weekends.
As I get older, I’m more like the boys. I like to get up and get moving in the morning. My day begins even earlier than them so I can experience peace and quiet before they bring on the noise. To be honest, I never thought I could be a morning person but I love it.
Morning walks with the dog (sans phone), then coming home to write my daily blog all before they wake makes for a productive morning. Sometimes I’m able to read for a bit or meditate but if I don’t, it’s all good. There is more time in my morning where I can slide those things in while the kids are either at school or building forts.
The early mornings are for me to calmly plan my day and gain clarity without distraction.
While I can appreciate the days of sleeping in, I now see how much I’m able to accomplish when the dog and I get up before the sun.
What are your mornings like, calm and peaceful or hectic and busy?
