How Understanding Birth Order Affects Your Parenting Style?

Growing up as an only child, I didn’t understand the dynamics of birth order between siblings. I would see my friends with their brothers and sisters but would never notice how their parents treated them differently. But I’m sure they toned down their particular brand of “crazy” when company was present.

I know I do in our house.

Since it was just me, my personality took on a mixed bag of traits. From being independent to a born leader, a people-pleaser, impatient, always getting my way, and garnering attention of most adults around me.

As a mother of four, I see my characteristics pan out across the board in each of my four children. Not having siblings of my own to learn from, parenting a big family has it’s own learning curve.
