As she gets older and older, I am happy when she asks to spend time doing something with me. We are at that in between age where she still likes me and in the same turn is embarrassed by my actions.

It may be as simple as watching an episode of Fuller House on Netflix or as complex as planning a girls weekend away.

I’m grateful that spending time with me trumps hanging out with her friends. She truly is a family girl and loves to tell me things about her life, daily routines and future plans.

Ever since she was little, I never had to ask her about her day because I get the play by play details from the beginning to the end of the day.

Some days it’s hard to sit through but even the highlights are as good if not better than the whole day.

As long as I continue to be a listening ear now, the teenage years might be a little easier to bear.
