I never take my husband’s skills for granted because I know I hit the jackpot in the handy hubby department. I listen to friends of mine talk about how they call in people all the time to fix things in their house, install appliances and put together furniture.

I have nothing against calling in help cause I do it for other things. I have a cleaning lady because I don’t like to clean and frankly she is so much better at it than me.

What I am grateful for is having my husband on hand to fix things immediately. Last year at Thanksgiving I clogged the drain with potato skins and he was able to pop off the bottom, fix it and no one was the wiser.

He is able to take an idea of mine and make it happen. When we moved into our house, we realized that the dining room and three bedrooms didn’t have overhead lights. Our house was super dark at night time, so he took matters into his own hands and rectified the situation. He climbed up into the attic and hardwired the electricity up there so we could install lights into each of those rooms.

I’m pretty sure the longest part of the process was the part when I had to pick out what I wanted. Side note: We still need sconces and a dining room light. The light kit itself is done but the decorating part is still on hold.

Now my daughter has proper lighting in her room to do her homework, our middle sons have enough light to see their many legos and our little guy has a built in toy (i.e. the light switch)!
